In the wake of ongoing COVID infections\, chronic illness\, and multiple influenza strains\, Tracy Cook Person explores the vital role herbs can play in supporting gut and microbiome health. Often referred to as the “second brain\,” the gut is one of the key systems where she focuses her work to create lasting health changes.\nIn this four-part series\, Tracy will guide participants through herbal approaches to gut health for overall wellness. The course will cover the use of herbal preparations in tea blends\, broths\, and tinctures to support digestion\, elimination\, immune function\, and the interconnected health of other bodily systems.\n\nThese lessons will primarily highlight medicinal herbs that support the esophagus\, stomach\, small and large intestines while also exploring the broader benefits of gut health support. Tracy will address common digestive issues she frequently observes in her clients’ microbiomes\, including malabsorption\, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)\, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)\, Candida overgrowth\, and constipation. \nWhether the goal is to restore gut health after illness\, eliminate toxins\, strengthen the immune system\, or promote overall bodily balance\, this webinar series offers a deep dive into traditional herbal remedies for digestive well-being. \n\nClass Schedule\nClass 1: Herbal Support for Digestion and Candida Balance\nIn this lesson\, you’ll explore herbal preparations of banana leaf and flower\, spearmint leaf\, Ceylon cinnamon\, and ginger to support gut flora balance\, reduce bloating\, combat Candida\, and promote smooth digestion.\nClass 2: Supporting Healthy Bowel Function and Effective Elimination\nIn this session\, you’ll discover how herbal preparations of senna leaf\, sugar cane\, and okra can promote healthy digestion and support effective bowel function.\nClass 3: The Gut-Immune Connection\nThroughout this class you’ll examine how herbal preparations of calendula\, reishi\, kombu\, and garlic support a healthy microbiota to strengthen the immune system.\nClass 4: Herbal Gut Support for Whole-Body Wellness\n\nDuring this final lesson\, you’ll learn more about herbal preparations of cacao\, turmeric\, and dandelion to promote gut balance\, enhance sleep\, uplift mood\, and support the nervous system. \nRecipes\, compiled notes\, and a bibliography will be provided. \nBio: Tracy Cook-Person is a Folk Herbalist\, Doula\, educator\, lecturer and professional storyteller. She holds a certificate from International Doula Institute. Tracy has been an Assistant Professor at LIU in the School of Education and Technology as well as an Instructor of Pedagogy and Clinical Practice for the TR@TC2 program in the Office of Teacher Education at Teachers College\, Columbia University. \nShe is ABD in the Doctoral program from the Graduate Center at CUNY in the Urban Education program and holds a MS in Forensic Psychology as well as an MS in Leadership and Policy. She has worked with programs such as the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction as delegate to the United Nations under UNESCO and has created several educational programs around the themes of health\, food equity and access. \n\n\n\n\n\nTracy is a member of the American Herbalist’s Guild and brings her knowledge of\, and passion for folk medicine and community wellness together with her background in education and storytelling and her doula practice to create Southern Alchemy Wellness\, an experience in support of health and wellness!
