This Focus Session will expand on the pathophysiology of insulin resistance to include interconnections with hormones\, the liver\, the thyroid\, stress\, systemic oppression and more. While the dominant medical paradigm focuses on symptoms like weight gain\, a holistic approach can address underlying root causes and offer whole person support through a client-centred\, body-positive and harm reduction approach. From this lens\, you will learn how to frame realistic and empowering goals\, and craft effective herbal protocols based on the individual client’s unique goals and barriers. \nAbout the Teacher: Ember Peters\, RHP (HANS) \nEmber Peters (they/them) is a clinical herbalist and educator based in Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, unceded Mi’kmaq territory. They have been in clinical practice since 2014 and offer beginner to advanced clinical herbal education rooted in harm reduction\, accessibility\, trans herbal care and trauma-informed care. Ember’s practice integrates vitalism\, energetic systems\, physiology\, phytochemistry\, scientific research\, nutrition and spirit for a holistic and nature connected approach.
