You can explore our Directory of Registered Herbalists, where you can filter by state to find qualified practitioners in your area.

How do I become a Registered Herbalist?

If you are interested in becoming a Registered Herbalist with AHG, please read these guidelines here. There is not an exam, but there is a fairly thorough application process which is fully online. We recommend checking out our instructional video on the process.

How do I become an herbalist?

We encourage you to explore our Herbal Education FAQ page, which provides valuable insights into herbal training options. Additionally, our Herb School Directory allows you to search for schools by state, as well as online and onsite programs.

For further guidance, consider watching the public webinar “So You Want to Be an Herbalist” which explores the many paths to becoming an herbalist. There is no single route to becoming an herbalist, so take the time to explore your options and choose the path that aligns best with your goals and interests.

I’m looking for an accredited school approved by the AHG

The AHG is not an accrediting body and does not formally evaluate herbal schools or training programs. However, we do maintain an Herb School Directory, which includes a diverse range of schools and programs that have opted to be listed. Each program has its own unique educational approach and focus, offering both onsite and distance learning options across various regions.

We encourage prospective students to carefully review the AHG Suggested Education Guidelines when exploring programs, ensuring alignment with their personal and professional goals. Additionally, our Herbal Education FAQs provide further insights to help guide your decision.

Legal/ regulatory questions

We have a legal and regulatory FAQ page here.

Is it safe for me to use this herb?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide that information directly. However, we have many Registered Herbalists within our organization who are highly qualified to assist you. You can explore our Registered Herbalist Directory on our website, where practitioners are listed by state to help you find someone in your area. Click here.

How do I access my purchased webinars?

All purchased webinars can be found through the AHG Online Community, the same place where your AHG membership payments and account is managed.
