Heartwood Education was founded in 2016 by the Herbal Medicine Trust to provide a range of easily accessible Western herbal medicine courses to meet the needs of those who want to study herbal medicine in the digital age.
We offer an online Foundation Course and online Short Courses, as well as an online and in-person Professional Course that is accredited by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH), established in 1864.
Professional Course (International Route)
We are pleased to also offer an entirely online Professional Course (International Route) to meet the needs of international students, with identical academic content to the Professional Course. Please note that this course does not confer eligibility to apply to join NIMH.
Length of study: 4 – 6 years (depending on pathway chosen).
Schedule: September – July, over three terms. Resits may run into August.
Award: Diploma in Herbal Medicine (International Route).
Lessons: substantial weekly lessons released, featuring filmed tuition by expert practitioners from around the world.
Webinars: normally two live webinars per term per module.
Forums: intake-specific forums.
Academic study hours: 3600 hours academic studies.
Clinic: 500 clinic hours (excluding writing-up time), made up of 250 online clinical hours and 250 in-person hours with practitioners local to you.
Accreditation: not accredited.
