Daoist Traditions

Founded in 2003, Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts is a center of educational excellence dedicated solely to Chinese Medicine education. Known for its academically rigorous and transformative curriculum, its service to the community, and its exemplary leadership in the field, we remain a small college by choice — creating an environment where students and instructors truly get to know one another.
Our name reflects the profound relationship between Daoist philosophy and the origins of Chinese medicine. Early Daoist scholars and physicians emphasized careful observation of natural patterns, an approach that remains central to clinical diagnosis and treatment today. Our experienced instructors honor these classical roots while preparing students to meet the complexities of contemporary healthcare.
We offer four programs that challenge students to grow emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. Students gain valuable, hands-on experience that prepares them to become healers who deliver compassionate care and reduce pain and suffering in their communities.
Self-cultivation is woven throughout our curriculum. Students are encouraged to engage in practices such as qi gong, meditation, and journaling — not as additions to their academic work, but as reflections of it. Students engage with Chinese herbs in our gardens, observing the plants through the seasons — an experiential complement to their herbal medicine studies. Just as the natural world moves in patterned cycles, mastery and transformation unfold through disciplined practice and consistent refinement.
Our student body includes recent graduates and seasoned professionals alike. While each person arrives with their own story, they share a common purpose: to study this medicine so they can help others. At Daoist Traditions, that purpose shapes everything we do.
