The Journal of the American Herbalists Guild (JAHG) is currently seeking qualified peer reviewers to join our editorial team. We have an urgent need for reviewers for our current Summer 2025 issue and are looking to expand our reviewer pool for the 2025–2026 publishing cycle.
Peer reviewers serve a two-year term and are asked to review four issues total. Reviewers must be able to assess scholarly content written in U.S. English, formatted in APA style, and evaluated without the assistance of generative AI. Reviewers should have a demonstrated background in fields such as herbalism, ethnobotany, plant medicine, environmental science, wellness studies, anthropology, integrative health, or related areas.
We are looking to fill:
- 10 primary reviewer roles
- 5 backup reviewer roles (on-call, activated in the case of emergency or unavailability of a primary reviewer)
This is a volunteer opportunity well suited for individuals in graduate or professional school, as well as faculty, researchers, and experienced professionals with an interest in contributing to the scholarly herbal community.
Applications are reviewed by the JAHG Peer Review Subcommittee of the Education Committee. Please note that filling out the application form is the first step in the process and does not guarantee appointment.
Work will begin immediately upon approval, with reviewers assigned a manuscript from our upcoming Summer 2025 issue, themed “Lifecycles: Science and Tradition in Pivotal Moments.”
