For more than 30 years, Kahla Wheeler-Rowan has led and continues to lead PrairieWise Herbal School in the greater Kansas City, Missouri area. Currently, the school is hosted by The Laya Center, llc in the popular Crossroads district, an Afrivedic healing spa. The course includes live sessions for making preparations, field trips, plant walks, Zoom lectures and, that’s just the first year. Our second year program includes plant chemistry, anatomy & physiology for the herbalist and extensive work on Materia medica presented by Todd Altizer, Community Herbalist and longtime manager of Phoenix Herb Company. The third year of our program consists of the beginning of development of a clinical practice so that students are prepared for mentoring groups and programs. Trilby Sedlacek, RH, of Green Angel Herbs and Healing Arts is on staff to offer her guidance with the nervous system, mental health and geriatric care. At PrairieWise we concentrate on building a firm foundation to “do the experiment” and focus on healing.
